The Conventional Lakes Tour to Lakes Fagnano and Escondido is the ideal option for travelers looking to explore the interior landscapes of Tierra del Fuego in a comfortable and accessible way, without off-road or adventure activities. This panoramic road tour blends natural beauty, geographical highlights, and regional history in a journey through forests, mountains, and glacial lakes.
Itinerary:
- National Route No. 3: The tour begins in the city of Ushuaia, heading north along the scenic National Route 3. Along the way, travelers will pass through the Tierra Mayor and Carvajal Valleys, areas shaped by ancient glaciers. The guide will share insights on local geography, forest industry, and rural development in this remote region.
- Garibaldi Viewpoint: A key highlight of the excursion is the stop at the Garibaldi viewpoint, located at 450 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, passengers enjoy a stunning panoramic view of both Lake Escondido and Lake Fagnano, framed by the Fuegian Andes and surrounding forests.
- Lake Escondido: The route continues down the northern side of the mountain range, following a winding road through dense lenga and coihue forests to reach Lake Escondido—a small glacial lake nestled among the mountains. A short stop is usually made here for photos and appreciation of the tranquil scenery.
- Lake Fagnano (Khami): The journey continues further north to Lake Fagnano, one of the largest lakes in Patagonia and a natural border with Chile. Over 100 kilometers in length, it is also geologically significant due to the presence of the Magallanes-Fagnano Fault.
Comments :
