One of the most sought-after excursions in Ushuaia and a true highlight for travelers looking for authentic experiences at the southern tip of the continent. Departing from the city’s tourist pier, this navigation crosses Ushuaia Bay and enters the Beagle Channel, surrounded by mountains, sea, and pristine nature.
Along the way, the catamaran visits the Bridges Archipelago, where passengers can spot sea lions and a variety of seabirds, including imperial and rock cormorants. The journey then continues toward the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, known as the “End of the World Lighthouse,” which has been operating for over a century.
The main highlight: Martillo Island, home of the penguins.
The experience culminates with a visit to Martillo Island—commonly known as Penguin Island—one of the most accessible and impressive penguin colonies in the region. Visitors can observe hundreds of Magellanic penguins, easily identified by their classic black and white plumage, as well as the more active and larger Gentoo penguins, with their distinctive orange beaks. The island is also home to other bird species such as skuas, petrels, and various types of cormorants, making it a true sanctuary of sub-Antarctic marine life.
The entire tour is conducted on modern and fully equipped catamarans, offering a safe and comfortable navigation experience. Spacious outdoor decks are ideal for photography, and expert bilingual guides provide commentary and insights throughout the journey.
During the navigation, passengers may also catch a glimpse of Puerto Almanza (Argentina) and Puerto Williams (Chile), located on Navarino Island—adding a unique geographic and cultural dimension to the experience.
